Our generation

Sometimes when older people talk about our generation; it makes me feel like a sterotype for technology addicted hooligans.  But what's so bad about technology.   There's tons of ads and YouTube videos telling us to turn it off and spend time with each other.  The truth is, when we are with friends we aren't ALWAYS on our phones.  Since being married the amount of texts on my phone bill has decreased a ton! I can't remember the last time I send over 200 texts in a month.
A record low
The point is, sometimes elderly people aren't the quickest with technology.   Ethan and I both have jobs that require us to work with faculty on a daily basis.   I'm talking people who have Ph.D's, published articles or books and do some of the most complicated research!! Late at night before we fall asleep we just like to giggle about some of the things that we encounter.
For example, the other day Ethan got a phone call from one of the professors (who, might I add got a PhD in his field) he starts by saying
Professor: I'm having problems with my printer.  It gives me an error box that says I need to restart my computer.
Ethan: ok, well have you tried restarted your computer yet?
Professor: No
Ethan: Well let's start with that
Professor: (restarting his computer)
[a minute later]
Professor: Oh hey! It works! You're magic

Another time

A professor came into my office and asked to copy some documents.  I'll admit sometimes it looks daunting because there are so many different options but I did put a big sign with the simplest instructions how to print, scan and copy.  So they turn and ask, can you show me how to copy this paper. So I'll stick the document in the feeder and press the (big) button that says copy.  Sometimes to get all fancy I'll ask them how many copies they need, type that in and press the button.  Their reaction is probably my favorite.
"It's that easy?!"

Yes, yes it is

At the end of the day, we all need some help.   Adults wisdom and experience and youths techyness
If only that was a word
I guess that's why they pay us to do these jobs
